Speech Therapist/Speech-Language Pathologist
„AKTIDA“ FAMILY INTERVENTION AND SUPPORT CENTER FOR AUTISM
Nicoletta Michael is a Speech Therapist/Speech-Language Pathologist with a solid academic background and a range of experience in speech therapy and rehabilitation. She holds an MSc in Developmental Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol, where she also completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences with a specialization in Speech Therapy/Speech-Language Pathology.
Professionally, she currently works at the „Aktida“ Family Intervention and Support Center for Autism, where she provides therapeutic services to children and families. She is responsible for training and educating parents and family members, helping them develop skills to manage child behavior and other related challenges. She also conducts initial evaluations and creates personalized treatment plans, focusing on Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), social skills, self-care, and other key aspects of child development.
At the same time, she is also involved in the „Expansion and Upgrading of the New Disability Assessment System“ project with the Department of Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities in Cyprus. Her role involves reviewing case files, conducting disability assessments, and preparing reports, contributing to the evaluation and re-evaluation of individuals‘ needs for at-home care and supported living (e.g., people with hearing loss, individuals with traumatic brain injuries, and others). She also collaborates with MT Home Medicare & Support FRONTIDA LTD, conducting speech therapy assessments and designing individualized intervention plans for various speech and language disorders.
Beyond her professional roles, she is actively engaged in volunteer and community work. Nicoletta is a member of special interest groups for Developmental Language Disorders, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), and Hearing Loss & Cochlear Implants. She also serves as Secretary of the Young Professionals Committee of the Cyprus Association of Registered Speech-Language Pathologists.
To stay updated with the latest developments in her field, Nicoletta attends various seminars and conferences with a special focus on audiology-related topics, such as advances in hearing aid technology, cochlear implants, and strategies for auditory rehabilitation.
